AQUATHON 2009

Actress and humanitarian Kirstie Alley and I had a resounding success in July of 2009 with Aquathon, as we co-hosted the first live 24-hour telethon on Twitter.
Using Twitter, FaceBook, UStream and a variety of other online applications, we managed to raise $28,000 in just 24 hours, with the support and help of thousands of participants. Aquathon benefited the fine work of Playpumps International, who then purchased two PlayPumps wells to place in needy African communities.
I was so lucky to have been invited by Kirstie to work on this wonderful project! Here’s an after-event press release…

HEALING TIME
Also in 2009, I had the distinct pleasure of being involved with Jazz musician Josh Charles in helping him get the word out about his Healing Time Project.
Josh (pictured left) is an incredible musician and teacher. His music and efforts on behalf of New Orleans have been highlighted in USA Today, the Huffington Post, as well as CNN, the Tavis Smiley Show on PBS and Good Morning America.
Josh spent Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, huddled with so many thousands of others, leaving on one of the last buses after the storm. Seeing the aftermath changed Josh, who then dedicated 100% of the proceeds of his song Healing Time to the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans.
The PRC works diligently to restore and rebuild homes affected by Hurricane Katrina, particularly in the areas hardest hit, including the Lower 9th Ward. The song is available for download from iTunes and Amazon.
DOPODOMANI
I’ve been writing posts in this blog since August of 2009, with the goal to have at least one post for every day of the year, to provide an ongoing celebration of our sharing this space, our beautiful world. After that, who knows?
Thanks for taking the time to read Dopodomani, and for getting to know me better. Please take the time to use the social networking icons at the top of the page, so I can get to know you, too.
